Raymond J. Goforth

RAYMOND J. GOFORTH, age 73, of Dandridge, TN passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, March 25, 2011 at his home following a long battle with cancer. He was the son of the late John Wesley and Burvellee (Rainwater) Goforth. He was a member of the Grants Chapel United Methodist Church, an avid U.T. fan, an active athlete in his youth, and an avid lover of the game of golf. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth and Hubert Goforth. Survived by his loving and caring wife of 54 years, Marie (Thornton) Goforth; daughters, Kim (Mike) Rogers and Eva (Paul) Barker; grandchildren, Dana Marie Rogers (Weston Large) and Richard Austin (Amanda) Barker; step-grandchildren, Lora (Vince) Stormes , Cari (Pierre) Levesque and Layne Large; sisters, Imogene Felknor and Mary Sue Breeden; brother, W. D. Goforth; sisters-in-law, Josephine Goforth and Mae Goforth; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Smoky Mountain Hospice, 222 Heritage Blvd., Newport, TN 37821. Funeral service will be Sunday, March 27, 2011, 3:00pm at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Petty officiating. Interment to follow at Dandridge Memorial Gardens.
