Ray Newman

RAY NEWMAN, age 91, of Dandridge, TN passed away Monday evening, December 16, 2013. He was born in the Sugarlands of the Great Smoky Mountains on August 1, 1922 to the late Fred (Janella) and Flora Ogle Newman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1942-1946 in the European Theatre of World War II and worked most of his life as a contract painter. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Edith Martin Newman; sons, Jeffrey Ray, Ricky Ernest (Jeanette) and Terry Bruce Newman; grandchildren, Eddie Ray Newman and Tasha Deese; great-grandchildren, Lily Rhea, Callie Diane and Catelin Ann Newman; step grandchildren, Becky McGaha and Lewis Ramsey; sisters, Alie Newman Maples, Leah Minard and Linore Newman, Anna Lee Cantrell, Glenna Bjorkland, Sue Franklin, Nancy Jones; brother, James David Newman; several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral service with Military Honors will be held Thursday, December 19, 1:00pm at Hillcrest Cemetery in Dandridge. Family will receive friends Wednesday evening, 5:00 to 7:00pm at FARRAR FUNERAL HOME, DANDRIDGE
