OBITUARY:
RALPH P. SLATON, age 88 of Jefferson City, TN passed away Friday evening, December 2, 2005 at the Life Care Center of Jefferson City. Born and raised in Dandridge, TN he was the son of the late Joseph Porter and Minnie Cox Slaton. Ralph was a veteran of World War II and the U.S Army being the first serviceman drafted from Jefferson Co. where he served in England, North Africa and Italy in Operation Torch. He was a retired maintenance mechanic for Magnavox with 25 years of service and was a faithful member of the George Street United Methodist Church for over 50 years and had served the church in many areas. Survived by his faithful wife of 65 years, Nanna B. Reneau Slaton;sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Janie Slaton of Dandridge, Gary and Claudia Slaton of Lake Mary, FL; grandchildren, Eva, Deke, China, Jody and Shaun; great-grandchildren, Will, Ty, Jake, and Kate Talley; sister, Loretta S. Bull of Jefferson City; brothers, John Slaton of Rushville, Illinois, and Bill Slaton of Lancaster, CA; several nieces and nephews and many loving friends. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 4, 2005 at 8:00 p.m. from Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Rev. Ginger Isom officiating. Interment graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
