Richard ?RD? White, age 92, of Newport, TN passed away at his home on Friday, November 19, 2010. He was of the Baptist faith. He retired from American Enka after 30 years of service in building maintenance. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. But his greatest passion was his music.
His talent was so that it earned him a spot on the Cas Walker Show, and with numerous other groups in the area. When he was able RD, Dowl and Evelyn would sing together as the White Trio, and entertain the local nursing homes and churches. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
RD was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Dovie White; brother, Dowl White and several other family members. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Virginia ?Ginny? White; children, David (Shirley) White of Phoenix, Gilbert (Emma) White of Orange County, California and Tim (Teresa) White of White Pine. His grandchildren are Kimberly White, Bevin Jones, Wendy Minami, Jonathan White, McKenzie ?Prissy? White and Dakota White, along with 5 great-grandchildren and numerous other family members that called him Poppy. He is also survived by his sister Evelyn Bass and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends to numerous to count. The family would like to express a special thank you to Smokey Mountain Hospice.
Funeral services for RD White will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 in the chapel of Farrar Funeral Home in White Pine. A graveside service will be Wednesday, November 24 at 1 p.m. in White Pine Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5-7:00pm prior to the service in the chapel.
