Phyllis Rae Wright, age 79, died Tuesday, September 3, 2019.
Phyllis was the daughter of Ray and Gladys Baldwin and is survived by her sisters Joan and Patsy.
For 62 years, Phyllis was a loving and devoted wife to her husband Nolen. Together, they had three children: Marsha and her husband Butch, Van and his wife Lorri, and Derrick and his wife Christi; five grandchildren: Brad and his wife Jessica, Shane and his wife Whitney, Madison, Taylor, and Grace; and three great-grandchildren: Alex, Layla, and Hudson.
Those who knew her best will remember Phyllis for her sense of humor, her home cooked meals, and her hard work. Together, Phyllis and Nolen ran The Wright Stuff Leather, selling their hand-crafted leather goods to countless companies, craft shows, and individuals throughout the country. Whether friend, family, or visitor to the shop, one thing was clear: Nolen may have been the creative mind and salesman, but Phyllis ran the business. It was her patience, persistence, and attention to detail that drove their business to great success.
Outside of the leather shop, Phyllis was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. Her laugh, enthusiasm, matter-of-fact advice, and homemade candy will forever be missed.
Phyllis was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church, where she and Nolen passionately organized the church food bank for many years. In lieu of flowers, Phyllis' family asks that donations be made to the church food bank at:
