Peggy Sue Philpot Gregg

PEGGY SUE PHILPOT GREGG, age 69, of Dandridge, TN passed away on July 29, 2010 after a courageous battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. She was born in Barbourville, KY to Dee and Pauline Philpot. She received her Bachelors degree in Education from Carson-Newman College and her Masters degree in Education from Union College, KY. She retired after 31 years of teaching in the Morristown City/Hamblen County School System, and touched numerous lives through her creative and caring classroom instruction. She loved reading, researching her family genealogy, and learning about all things historical. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren Sarah and John ? they were the light of her life. She was an amazing mom, grandmom, and friend and will be truly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves to cherish her life her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and David Humphrey; son, Joel Gregg; grandchildren, John and Sarah Humphrey; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Lewis Gass; nieces, Carrie Bretz and Tobie Gass; and her dog Mattie. A private graveside service will be held in Kentucky at a later date. To honor her memory, donations can be made to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter or to the Carson Newman Annual Fund.
