Pauline (Polly) Juanita Patterson Mayes

Pauline of Talbott, TN went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 1, 2023 at the Serenity House. She was born in Grainger County on March 25, 1939. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She attended Lakeshore Road Baptist Church where she volunteered in many areas. She was an employee of Magnavox for 42 years before retiring in 2001. Pauline is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, John Samuel Mayes; parents, Clyde and Vesta Patterson; sisters, Irene Hodge, Kathleen Bishop, and Virginia Hixon; and brothers, Johnny Patterson and Ruben Patterson. She is survived by her daughters, Robin (Kent) Booher of Port Orange, FL. and Cynthia Mayes of Talbott, TN; son, Tim Mayes of Morristown, TN; grandchildren, Jonathan Booher of Port Orange, FL and Hannah Booher of Fargo, ND; sisters, Viola Colley and Ruby Smith; brother, Charles (Shirley) Patterson; sister-in-law, Freda Patterson; brother-in-law, Lee Bishop; many nieces and nephews; long-time friends, Ron and Jeannie Saunders and Donnie and Dolly Lawson; and special friend, Elaine Elkins. Thank you to the members of Lakeshore Road Baptist Church who supported our family. A special thanks to the UT Hospice nurses and The Serenity House for their excellent care during this time, as well as the doctors and nurses from the UT Pat Summit clinic for Alzheimer’s. Family will receive friends on Sunday, October 8, 2023 from 2:00p.m.- 4:00p.m. with a service to follow at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City, TN with Rev. Jeff Harvel officiating and David Mayes singing. A graveside service will be held Monday, October 9, 2023 at 2:00p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Jefferson City, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Lakeshore Road Baptist Church or The Serenity House in Pauline’s memory.
