PAUL R. OLLIS, MSGT RETIRED, age 82, of White Pine, TN passed away, Friday, May 16, 2014 at his home. He was born September 3, 1931, the son of the late Alvin and Mayme (Woods) Ollis, and was preceded in death by his infant brother, Alvin Jr. Paul was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army with 40 years of service with the 844th Engineering Corp. of Greenville, TN and proudly served in the Korean Conflict and Desert Storm. He was a member and Deacon of the Leadvale Missionary Baptist Church, Brotherhood director and Commander for American Legion Post 201, TREA Enlisted Assoc, member of the Disaster Relief Team of Nolachucky Assoc 1994-2014, and was retired after 44 years from Enka, where he served as shop steward for the United Textile Workers Union. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Templin Ollis; children, Gail (Ricky)Denton, Willie (Patty) Ollis of Dalton, GA, Paul Lee (Sharon) Ollis, Clinton, TN and Penny (Chuck) Murphy of Dandridge, TN; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; brother, J.L. (Virginia) Ollis of White Pine; sisters, Dorothy Jean Lowe of Ferndale, MI, Pauline (Gordon) Jacobs of Talbott, TN; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The family wishes to express a special Thank you to Covenant Health and Hospice nurses and especially nurse Tabitha. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the MSGT Paul R. Ollis Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 261, White Pine, TN 37890. Funeral services, Monday, May 19, 2014, 7:00pm at the Leadvale Baptist Church with Rev. W.A. Galyon, Rev. Mike Grebenik, Rev. Charlie Harkleroad and Col. John McGraw officiating. Interment graveside services with full military honors by the Tennessee National Guard, Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 11:00am. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and the American Legion Post# 201.
