Paul Dee Hammond, "Junior", age 83, of White Pine,TN passed away at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare Systems on Thursday, January 24, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Junior was retired from Martin-Marietta Energy Systems in Oak Ridge with 20 years of service, and was veteran of the Tennessee Army National Guard. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Morristown, and a former member of Middlebrook Pike United Methodist Church in Knoxville, where they lived for over 20 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Dee and Nellie Rhea Hammond; step-mother, Ollie Hammond; his step-grandparents who raised him from a small child, Kate and Sanky Wall; step-brothers, T.J. Wall, Guy Wall, Alvin (Hawk) Wall; and step-sister, Nola Bee Wallace; sisters-in-law, Hershel and Eugene Sunderland, Effie Daniel, Billie Rhea Short; brother-in-law, Marshall Rines. He is survived by the love of his life for 48 years, Lora Lee Ford Hammond; his children, daughter, Katie and James Kittrell, and son, Tony Hammond; brothers-in-law, R.A. Daniels and Larry Wayne Short; sisters-in-law, Mary Ruth Rines and Anna Faye (Arnold) Kaizer; also several nieces, nephews and other family members. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 3:00pm at First United Methodist Church in Morristown with the Rev. Chuck Sparks officiating. Graveside interment service will follow in White Pine Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1-3:00pm prior to the funeral service.
