PATRICIA L. CRIPPINS, a prominent Knoxville community leader, died Thursday, october 6, 2011. She was 64. The retired Knox County Administrator of Elections and former manager of the East Knoxville Community Action Committee Neighboor Center will be remembered for a lifetime of civic service. Crippins died Thursday night at MeSun Hospice Facility in Lawrenceville, GA after a long battle with declining health. She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Sheets Gwynn and her father, William H. Crippins. She leaves to celebrate her life a devoted, loving sister and brother-in-law, Michael and Charlotte Tate; niece, Melissa Tate; nephew, Michael (Tiffany) Tate, Jr.; great-nephews, Myles Tate and Bryant Tate; great-niece, Mikaylen Tate; uncles and aunts, Tom (Barbara Jean) Sheets, Susan Smith, Mary (Harry) Phipps, James (Elaine) Sheets and Gladys (George) Clay; and a host of cousins, friends and colleagues. The family will receive friends at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City, TN on October 15, 2011 at 12:00 noon with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of love be made in the form of donations to the American Kidney Fund.
