McKlveen, Oliver Richard ?Bud? ? age 81, passed away peacefully at his home in Talbott, TN on Friday, November 26, 2010. He was born on July 15, 1929 in Latrobe, PA to William and Anna (Poche) McKlveen. Bud served in the US Army Air Force in the occupation forces in Japan and then later in the Korean Conflict. Upon returning home from Japan, Bud married the love of his life Lillie (Camp), of Coraopolis, PA. After completing his tour of duty with the Army Air Force, Bud followed his passion for aviation by attending Airframe and Powerplant School. While in A&P School, Bud also cleaned airplanes for Capital Airlines in the evenings. He worked for United Airlines as a mechanic and a maintenance foreman for 36 years before retiring to Tennessee. Aviation was both a vocation and an avocation for Bud. He earned numerous aviation licenses including his twin engine commercial instrument rating and FAA Inspector?s licenses. He shared his love of flying with his family and friends, using his flying skills to visit his daughters in college and take his family on numerous trips. Bud also loved to hunt, fish, and bowl. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing with friends and family. He is survived by Lillie (Camp), his wife of almost 60 years; three daughters and sons in law, Elizabeth and Daniel Betzel of Columbus, Ohio; Cheryl and Eric McFarland of Alexandria, Virginia; Marcie and James DiFranco of LaGrange, Ohio. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Julie Detwiler, Courtney DiFranco, David DiFranco, Daniel McFarland, Stephen McFarland, Anna Betzel, and Kye Betzel; three sisters, Charlotte Cunningham of Nashville, Tennessee, Virginia Helmick of Smithfield, Pennsylvania, and Eleanor Helmick of Windsor, Ohio and a brother, Charles McKlveen of Bay City, Texas. His generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to all who knew him. He lived his life with integrity. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on December 16, 2010 at 11:00 am at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City, Tennessee. The family will receive friends 10:00 until 11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the University of Tennessee Medical Center Hospice Services, 1633 West Morris Blvd., Morristown, TN 37813.
