Norah E. Ross Hut, born June 22, 1916 in New York City, NY to mother, Anne Gertrude Seery, and father Arthur Patrick Ross and passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014. She moved to Pleasantville, NY and attended St. Thomas Roman Catholic Elementary School and St. John’s Roman Catholic Academy in White Plains, NY. After high school she worked for Reader’s Digest in Mt. Kisco, NY and later, moved to New York City, NY and worked in a Savings Bank in Lower Manhattan. In 1944, she married Roelf W. Hut from the Netherlands and moved to Morristown, TN in 1948, where her husband worked for American Enka. The Catholic Faith and The Ideals, and the Promise and Laws of Girl Scouting, have been the guidepost of her life. She is survived by her children, Martha Anne Hut (Jon Rosen) of Colorado, Edith Jane (David) Barnes of Georgia, Ann Christine (Clarence) Hill, of Knoxville, TN, and Peter Ross (Joanne) Hut of Murfreesbroro, TN, grandchildren, Christine Mereand, Ellen Mee, Heather Hill, Jonathan and Christopher Barnes, Rachel Bremen, and Rebecca Hut, great grandchildren, Andrew and Alyssa Barnes, Jackson, Edward, and Robert Mereand, and Zoë Mee. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Rev. Dan Whitman officiating. Family and friends will meet at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Jarnigan Cemetery for the graveside service. Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday prior to the funeral service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 475 N. Hwy. 92, Jefferson City, TN 37760 or Jefferson County Nursing Home (For Green Houses), 914 Industrial Park Rd., Dandridge, TN 37725 or to a non-profit of your choice.
