Nocha Sue Blackburn Steele

NOCHA SUE BLACKBURN STEELE, age 69, of Dandridge, TN and formerly of Chattaroy, WV lost her courageous and heroic battle with lung cancer on Sunday, October 18, 2015. She faced her journey with cancer knowing God was in control. Never wavering in her faith. She was so very tired and as we know from scripture, Matthew 11:28, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”. She is now resting in the arms of Jesus!! She loved to bowl, read, swing on her front porch and fish with her husband on Douglas Lake. She enjoyed life, spending time with her family and having her quiet time to just “ponder”. Nocha enjoyed being a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by parents, John and Sylvania (Coleman) Blackburn; brothers, John Blackburn, Jr. and Robert “Bobbie Joe” Blackburn; special nephew, Terry Joe Blackburn. She leaves to cherish beautiful memories of her, husband of 51 years, Elbert E. Steele of Dandridge, TN; daughters, Sheena (Jeff) Varney of Varney, WV, and Kimberly ( Tim) Starr of Dandridge, TN; 7 grandchildren, Heather Varney, Jeffrey (Keisha) Varney II, Jonathan (Miranda) Varney, William Varney, Timothy Starr II, Joshua (Tabitha) Starr, Gideon Starr; 11 great-grandchildren, Bryson, Alexis, Jaden, Kailey, Jayden, Landon, James , Braydun, Ethan, Jacob and Skye; brother, James “Buddy” (Sarah) Blackburn of Hellier, Ky; sister, Alice (Grover) Smith of Attica, OH; A host of family and a world of friends.
