Neal Y. “Cowboy” Silver, after three difficult years, achieved the rest he so deserved, quite suddenly in ER at Jefferson Memorial Hospital on December 21, 2014. He was born Monday, April 13, 1936, the fifth child of Marvin and Ada Silver. He spent his life making friends and being one. He was never so happy as when facing the open road at the controls of an eighteen wheeler or a motorcycle. He was a long time member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, very much loved by that little congregation. He was retired from Triangle Pacific. He cherished his membership in the Retired Truckers, who met monthly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife Joanne, his only child, Steve, beloved brothers Bill and Wayne, his step son, Rick Beckner and brother in law Hugh Cate. He is survived by wonderful, caring Aunt Bonnie Proffitt, grandson and great granddaughter Robbie and Hannah Silver, his surviving sisters are Drama (Del) Robeson, Betty (Bud) Watkins, Clara Cate. He is also survived by step son David (Stephanie) Beckner, Step grandchildren Taylor, Ashley, Wesley (Amanda) Beckner, bro in law Coy (Helen) Trent, sisters in law Madge Brooks, Willa Jean Ayers, Jessie and Wanda Silver. He adored the young ones in his extended family. Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2014 at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City with Dr. Jim Baumgardner officiating. Graveside interment service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014 in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mt.
