NATHAN HOOD FRANKLIN, age 67, of Dandridge, TN passed away at Jefferson Memorial Hospital on September 18, 2014 after a lingering illness. Nathan was a 1965 graduate of Maury High School and a 1969 graduate of Carson Newman College with a degree in Business Administration. Following college, he also completed a four year carpenter apprenticeship and carpenter apprentice school. Nathan loved farming, fishing, hunting and the outdoors. As a result of a mining accident, he was confined to home for the past several years and eventually to a wheelchair, but his spirit and sense of humor never left him. Nathan was preceded in death by his parents, Hood and Lucy Franklin; and sister and brother-in-law, Alice Jo and Bill Mitchell, all of Dandridge. He is survived by three children, James of Indiana, Donna of Morristown, and Lindsay Talley (Matthew) and grandson, Blake, of Dandridge; sister, Doris Collins; special niece, Kris Anderson (Aaron) and children, Alicia, Abby and Amber; nieces, Jere (Randall) Kiser, Jon Blair, Breanna Collins; nephew, Jeff Collins (Tonia); as well as several great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. in the Hebron Presbyterian Church Cemetery on Hebron Church Road with Rev. Chris Howell presiding. Gary Eslinger, Aaron Anderson, Jeff Collins, Joey Cox, Lloyd Smith and Matthew Talley will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hebron Church Cemetery Fund.
