MYRL H. KYTE, age 83, of Dandridge, TN passed Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a life long resident of Dandridge and Jefferson County, and will be fondly remembered for his friendly and cheerful disposition and his quick wit and humor. He was an active member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Dandridge, serving as church pianist for over 30 years and also enjoyed teaching music. A graduate of the University of Tennessee and Carson Newman College, Myrl was a popular elementary school teacher and was a favorite of the students he had the privilege to teach. He taught in the Jefferson County School System for 30 years, having served at New Market, Piedmont and Dandridge Elementary. He enjoyed tending his flower gardens and spending time with his family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, James Haskell and Dicy Ellison Kyte; twin brother, Byrl Edward Kyte; nephew, Gregory Edwar Kyte. Survived by his special nephews, Steve (Linda) Kyte and Lannie (Kathy) Kyte; sister-in-law, Mildred Poe Kyte; great nieces, Selena (John) Stout and Christa (Mickey) Steward; great-great niece, Christana Stewart; great-great nephews, Mekhi Stewart and Aaron Stout; special friend, David Arwood. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Dandridge with Dr. Robert McCray and Dr. Robert Brown officiating. Interment graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. The family extends a special thank you and their appreciation to his many friends and extended family for their phone calls and visits during his recent illness. The family will be at the home of Mildred Kyte, 535 W. Hwy 25/70, Dandridge, TN.
