MILDRED OSBORNE MILLIGAN, age 102, of Jefferson City, TN passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008 at home following a brief illness. She was born February 9, 1906 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, the second oldest of six children. At 15 years old she took the train from Clarksdale to Memphis, Tennessee for nursing school. While working at Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, she met Dr. Frank L. Milligan. They were married on June 4, 1935. Mildred moved to Jefferson City with her husband where they founded Milligan Clinic. She did not retire from nursing until she was 84 years old. Many remember her as a nurse all dressed in white. All remember her as a professional, a remarkable and inspiring woman. She felt fortunate to be able to remain in her own home at the end of her life with a little help from people we wish to thank and will always remember. She is survived by her son, Dr. Leslie Milligan (Tammy); daughter, Sarah Jane Rankin; grandchildren, John, Jennifer, and Ozzy Milligan, Katherine Dodson (John), Grey Rankin (Michon) and Peter Rankin (Kim); great grandchildren, Colin, Kiley, Grey and Savannah. Graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Jefferson City, TN. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the mildred O.
