Michael Jack Whaley, age 62 of Kodak, passed away peacefully at his home with his girls by his side on Sunday, March 23, 2025.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, pappaw, son, brother, and friend; and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a devoted member of The Crossing Church, where he played with the worship team. He recently retired from Blalock & Sons, where he worked for many years. Before that, he had worked for over 20 years at Cherokee Textiles. He enjoyed spending time with his grandbabies the most; but also enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and camping with those he loved.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 37 years, Joyce M. Whaley; and his father, Jack E. Whaley of Kodak. He is survived by his two daughters, Amanda (Nick) Huskey & Jacklyn Whaley (Andrew); grandchildren, Gage, Collin, Alexis "Lexi Jo", Jackson, Parker, & Preston; his mother, Patricia Gene Whaley; sister, Janie Lynn (Bill) Lane; brother, Jamie Von (Jennifer) Whaley; and brother-in-law, John Comley. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews; his loving girlfriend, Amy Loyd, and her family.
Lovingly missed by all, his family takes comfort in knowing he will be building a house for them in Heaven.
A funeral service is scheduled for 6PM, Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at The Crossing Church in Kodak with pastors Kermit McPeek & Charlie Harkleroad officiating. The family will receive friends from 4PM to 6PM prior to the service. Interment Graveside Service will take place at 2PM, Thursday, March 27, 2025 at the Underwood Cemetery. (A procession will assemble at The Crossing Church beforehand.) Pallbearers will be Nick Huskey, Andrew Buell, Gage Leonard, Collin Huskey, Jamie Von Whaley, Rusty Whaley, Billy Joe Lane, & Derron Whaley
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be made to Legacy Christian School of The Crossing Church, 2941 Douglas Dam Road - Kodak, TN 37764.
Farrar Funeral Home of Dandridge is honored to serve the Whaley family.
