Michael Francis Keane, Col., USMC, Ret.

Michael Francis Keane, Col., USMC, Ret, died at his home on Monday, December 3, 2012 after a valiant battle with cancer. Mike and his wife Judy moved to Baneberry in 2002. Mike, a 40 year USMC veteran, served in Korea and Vietnam, and also several years at the National Security Agency at Ft. Meade, Maryland. As a private citizen, he served on the Baneberry Planning Commission from 2003 and as City Mayor since 2006. Mike is survived by his wife of 32 years, Judith Keane; also daughter, Michele; sons, Mark and Darryl; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brother, Charles; sister, Rita; and several friends and other family members. An Irish Wake and a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held after the holidays,in keeping with Mike?s wishes. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the town of Baneberry for a commemorative tree at the Baneberry Community Center, or to the Wounded Warrior?s Project, P.O.
