Melissa McMurtery Gaut

Melissa McMurtery Gaut, age 60 of Dandridge, went to be with our Lord, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Gaut Sr.; parents, Blair and Pantha (Pat) McMurtery; brother, Daniel McMurtery; sister, Deborah Wise; and nephew, David Wise. Melissa is survived by her daughters, Laura (Robert) Hechler and Caryn (Jeremy) Armstrong; siblings, Martin (Marlene) McMurtery, Trudy Black, and Scott (Carol) McMurtery; grandchildren, Austin (Maizie) Clevenger, Taylor (Dylan) Cutshaw, Anabelle Armstrong, Alyssa Gaddis, and Tabatha Armstrong; and a special niece, Trudy McMurtery. She also leaves behind several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Though she worked in insurance, Melissa's true passion was being a mother and grandmother. She was a member of French Broad Baptist Church, where she found a loving church family and many dear friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 24th, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at French Broad Baptist Church in Dandridge, with a service to follow. A graveside service will be held at Butcher Valley Cemetery in Rogersville on Tuesday, February 25th, at 2:00 PM.
