Mayoma Hicks

MAYOMA HICKS, age 94, of Jefferson City, TN, formerly of Jackson, TN, born April 7, 1909 passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at Jefferson City, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Hicks and parents, Jesse and Nellie Robbins. She was educated in the Jackson school system, a graduate of Union University and did graduate work at the University of Tennessee. She was a life long and active member of the First Christian Church in Jackson, TN, and a pioneer in the early development of special education programs in the Jackson school system, where she taught for many years. In recent years she had moved to the Grand Court in Morristown to be near her family. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Frank Hutton of Jefferson City; grandson and his wife, Eric and Allison Hutton of Nashville, TN. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. CST Tuesday, September 9, 2003 at Hollywood Cemetery in Jackson, TN with Reverend John R. Long officiating.
