Preceded in death by parents, Perry and Nina Elder; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Richard Cate. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Hazel French Elder; son, C. M. Elder; grandson; Steve Cate; great grand children, Natasha Jordan, Victoria and Patrick Cate, all of New Market; sisters; Hazel Bartlett of Kodak, TN and Pauline Keen of Wichita Fall, Texas; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at Farrar Funeral Home with Reverend Ron Jones officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2004 at Dumplin Baptist Church Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service.
