MAYFORD KING, age 92, of Johnson City, formerly of Jefferson City, TN passed away Saturday, October 22, 2005 at NHC Health Care in Johnson City, TN. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jefferson City and retired from Carson Newman College after 31 years of employment. Preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Bessie Trentham King; son, Rev. Jerry C. King; parents, Rev. James E. and Laura Clabo King; brothers, Victor, Ray and Otha King; sisters, Josie Tinker, Alice Waston, Missie Oakley, Maude Ownby and Trula Huskey. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Sonia King of Johnson City, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Reba Sue and Marion Lowe of Jefferson City, TN; daughter-in-law, Gayle King of Nashville, TN; brother, Rev. Clell King of sevierville, tN; granddaughters, Theresa and Lary McCroskey of Sevierville, TN; Conchita Johnson of Sevierville, TN, Kristi and Jim Rogers of Dallas, TX, Lisa and Mark Hinshaw of Nashville, TN; great grandchildren, Katie and Garen McCroskey, Reed, Haley and Micah johnson, Kara Rogers, Hunter and Jorday Hinshaw; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Dr. Gene Wilder officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowrs, the family has requested memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 207 North Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37604.
