Maxine Walker Garrett

Maxine Walker Garrett, age 89, of Jefferson City, TN passed from this earth on Sunday, September 23, 2012. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother, she will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She was a member of the Talbott Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was bookkeeper at Jefferson Farmers Co-op for many years, and was a volunteer at Jefferson Memorial Hospital for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James Robert Garrett, and son-in-law, James D. Swann. One of ten children, Maxine was also preceded in death by her parents, Sharp and Selma Walker; and siblings, Alfred Walker, Lucille Walker Corbett, Marvin Walker, Doris Walker Briggs, and Mary Nell Walker Widener. She is survived by her children, Eugene (Jean) Garrett, Patsy (Stuart) Houpt and Linda Garrett Swann; grandchildren, Hobie (Susan) Houpt, Allan Houpt, Donna (Richard) Garrett Breeden, Kristin (Jeff) Swann Depew, James D. (Tricia) Swann and Mark (Alison) Garrett; great grandchildren, Courtney Houpt, Alysha (Justin) Houpt Allen, Casey Houpt, Jake Depew, Garrett Breeden, Mallory Breeden, Sophie Swann, Tatum Garrett and Aubrey Garrett; great great grandson Bryson Allen; sisters, Effie Walker Cox and Louise Walker Lawson; brothers, Fred (Bea) Walker and S.G. (Rosie) Walker; brother-in-law, Charles Briggs and sister-in-law, Kathleen Garrett; several loving nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Tuesday 2:00 p.m. Sept. 25, 2012 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Richard Snowden officiating. Interment to follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
