MAX COMBS, age 71, of Rutledge, TN went home to be with Jesus on January 20, 2018. He was a lifelong member of Oakland Baptist Church and an auditor with Tennessee Farmers Cooperative. He spent his life in the tax and accounting business, a business he loved, helping people he enjoyed. He was the greatest University of Tennessee football fan ever. His blood ran pure orange. Max loved his family, especially his daughter and grandchildren, more than life itself. Preceded by parents, James and Lillian Combs; brother, Wallace Combs; sisters, Joann Bates and Sue Lawson; father-in-law and mother-in-law who loved him as their own son, Roy and Jean Hodge. Survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sandra Hodge Combs, who stood by him through many trials and triumphs; daughter and son-in-law, Bethany and Tommy Morgan; grandchildren, Wyatt and Makayla Morgan; sister, Nancy Jones; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Norma Combs, John Travis and Judy Combs; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that he treasured. A special thank you to the UT Transplant Team and all the many other special doctors and nurses who gave Max care above and beyond their call of duty. They became his extended family. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Farrar Funeral Home with Rev. Stacy Lawson, Emert Morgan and Rev. Gary Satterfield officiating. Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. Thursday morning at Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons Bible International.
