MATTIE KATE RAINES, age 98, of Talbott, TN passed away Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Jefferson County Nursing Home. She was a member of Cedar Hill Church of God. Preceded in death by parents, Preston M. and Sara Jane (Hill) Shultz; husband, James Horace Raines; sons, Terry Raines and infant son, William Monroe; daughters, Deliliah Baker and Shirley Dean; brothers, Brownlow and Preston Shultz; half-brother, Cortes Shultz; sisters, Flora Blakely, Eva Shultz, Lula Rather, Margaret Shultz. She is survived by her daughter, Shelby (Herbert) McMillan; son, Bobby J. (Barb) Raines; daughter-in-law, Anita Raines; half-sister, Helen Lowery; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Farrar Funeral Home with Rev. Samuel Youngblood officiating. Interment will follow the service at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
