Mattie Belle Catlett Litton, of Houston, TX passed away on November 26, 2002. Born in Jefferson City, TN on March 12, 1914 to Mattie H. and William Henry Catlett, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be remebered for her unconditional love, strength of character and as a wonderful homemaker and ook, especially of special treats for her grandchildren. She was graduated in 1934 from Carson Newman College, taught school and coached basketball in Strawberry Plains, Tn and in 1940 married Marshall Terry Litton, who predeceased her in 1994. They moved to Houston in 1952, where she and her family joined South Main Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her brothers Ben S. Catlett and his wife Louise, William (Bill) H. Catlett and his wife Lady kate, and sister Julia C. Renfro and her husband, Earl. She is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Ted Catlett Litton and Anna W. Litton of Houston, Richard Henry Liton and Genie W. Litton of Dallas; grandchildren, Todd C. and Jennifer K. Litton, Anna Elizabeth Litton Hogan and husband, Wyatt, Charles W. Litton of Houston and Sara E. Litton, Emily K. Litton and William H. Litton of Dallas; great granddaughters, Anna Margaret and Alice Elizabeth Hogan and brother and sister in law, Bill J. and Hermena Litton of Chattanooga; cousins, Charles A. Catlett and Bobbie Jean Peck. If desired, contributions may be made to the Catlett-Litton Scholarship Fund, Carson Newman College, CN Box 72017, Jefferson City, TN 37760 of a charity of your choice. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2002 at West View Cemetery in Jefferson City with Dr. Gene Wilder officiating.
