Mary E. Townsend Lindsey

Mary E. Townsend Lindsey,age 79, of South Knoxville, formerly of Dandridge, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2002 at Baptist Hospital following a brief illness. She was of the Methodist faith and attended Grant's Chapel United Methodist Church in Dandridge. She was an avid swimmer at South Knoxville Community Center for 27 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Francis McMahan Townsend; brother, John D. Townsend; and sister, Iva Ruth Blazer. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Mildred Lindsey of Dandridge; daughter, Nancy Asbury of Alcoa; five granddaughters; eleven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Faye Townsend; brother-in-law, Wayne Blazer; two nephews and one niece. The family will receive friends Monday, August 12, at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Dandridge from 6 until 8 p.m. followed by a celebration of her life at 8 p.m. with Rev. Steph Burkhart and Rev. Tom Lindsey conducting the service. Interment graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 13, at 12 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Dandridge.
