MARY RUTH THOMPSON, age 85, of White Pine, TN, passed away at 11 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2004 at Mariner Health Care Center of Newport following an extended illness. Preceded in death by husand, James O. Thompson. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, James N. and Marjorie Thompson of Morristown; daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie and Fred Underwood of White Pine; six grandchildren; four step grandchildren; sever great grandchildren; sister, Eula Sexton of Rogersville; brothers, Glenn, Earl and Jack Crider of Morristown; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2004 at Leadvale Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Harkleroad, Rev. Charles Robison and Rev. Ken Cole officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 6 at the funeral home to proceed to Hamblen Memory Gardens for an 11 a.m. graveside interment service. In lieu of flowers, the family requsts that memorials be made to the Smoky Mountain Health and Hospice of Newport, TN.
