Mary Jane Peoples

Mary Jane Peoples, age 88, of Clinton, TN, formerly of Jefferson City, TN, passed away Monday morning, August 8, 2016, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Her life was devoted to her family, church, and 37-year career in public school teaching. Seventeen years were served at Jefferson High School in Jefferson City, with previous years in Charlottesville and Bristol, Virginia, and the last twelve years in Sumter, SC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jean Peoples, and is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanie and Frank Bryan, of Greenville, SC, and Lydia and Stan Elliott, of Clinton, TN; grandchildren, Amy and Shelton Lyda, Natalie and Carlos Argueta, and Daniel Elliott; brothers, Jim Peck and Ed Peck of Knoxville, TN; sisters, Bette Brasher of Knoxville, and Amy Torgerson of Portland, Oregon. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Clinton, TN. Graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Westview Cemetery in Jefferson City.
