Mary Evelyn James Musick

Mary Evelyn James Musick, known to her friends as Mev, passed away on January 15, 2025, at her family home. Mev was the only child of Robert and Nelle James, the beloved wife of Larry, the amazing mother to Rob, Matt and Sally. Mev's favorite title was grandmother to Katie, Olivia, and Ava. Mev enjoyed sharing her time and talents with her church family at First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson City. She could often be found elbows deep in the gardens, taking pride in the beautiful church grounds. Mev was a graduate of Carson Newman College where she met the love of her life, Larry Musick. She and Larry shared a beautiful marriage of 59 years until his sudden passing in May of 2024. A retired Economics teacher at Jefferson County High School, a career that touched many students’ lives and she always enjoyed keeping up with former students. As one friend said, "there will never be another Mev". A kind heart with a generous spirit made Mary Evelyn a gift to our world. Mary Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Nelle James, beloved husband, Larry, son, James Robert "Rob", and granddaughter Katie. Survived by her children, Matthew and Sally (Danny Hall), granddaughters, Olivia Musick and Ava (Logan) Breeden, several brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice, Nurse Rachel, and her loved sitter, Jackie Burnside, for making each and every day better for her! The family will host a Celebration of Mev's beautiful life this spring at her home place, Fairview Farms. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Humane Society of Jefferson County.
