Broadway Blvd. Jefferson City, TN 37760 Phone (865) 475-3892 Fax (865) 475-9916 OBITUARY: MARY BROADWELL MITCHELL, age 73, of Talbott, TN died Friday, January 13, 2006 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital of complications from Lou Gehrig?s Disease. A registered nurse, she was a graduate of the Anderson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. The wife of the Reverend James D. Mitchell, retired Director of Church Relations, Carson-Newman College. She was active in Les Amies, Faculty Women?s Club, and Preacher?s School. While a member of First Baptist Church of Jefferson City, she was an Associational Officer of Women?s Missionary Union and was one of the founding leaders of the church?s King St. Ministry. She joined her husband at French Broad Baptist Church, Dandridge, where he served as interim pastor. She served as church organist for over 20 years. She was also a WMU leader and Sunday School teacher. Her lifelong love of missions led to trips to China on behalf of Carson-Newman College and to Costa Rica with Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee W. and Frances Mary Broadwell of Pendleton, SC; brother, Lee Wallace Broadwell of Charleston, SC; and a sister, Sara Strickland of Brevard, NC. Survivors are husband, James Donald Mitchell; daughters, Donna (David) Cardwell of Brentwood, TN, Carole (Bill) Kirkpatrick of Fayetteville, PA; sons, Mitch (Carol) Mitchell of Knoxville, TN and John (Kym) Mitchell of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren are Ashley and Hunter Kirkpatrick, Christian and Luke Cardwell, Trey and Elizabeth Mitchell and Mykayla Mitchell. Sisters are Aileen Hooper of Anderson, SC, Eloise Milliken and Doris English, both of Monroe, NC; brother, Wilton Broadwell of Baton Rouge, LA. Services will be held Monday, January 16, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Jefferson City, TN. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17 at French Broad Baptist Church Cemetery in Dandridge, TN. Memorials can be made to the Mary B.
