Mary Lynn Shelor Cason

 

 Mary Lynn Shelor Cason, of Dandridge Tennessee, passed away surrounded by family on December 30, 2023, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital following a prolonged illness.  She was born on January 16, 1943, in Ruston, Louisiana. She attended Mary Baldwin University in Staunton, Virginia and graduated from Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia. She was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for the entirety of her career and was among one of the first women CPAs in the State of Virginia.  A large part of her life was devoted to service.  She was very active in her local community and provided a lifetime of service as a leader in several organizations, including the Harrisonburg Woman’s Club and the Harrisonburg Republican Woman’s Club. She was also a member of the Twisted Sisters Red Hat Society. One of her proudest achievements was a rally to support our troops after Desert Storm which sparked other rallies across the US.  Her generous and giving spirit touched the lives of people everywhere she went.  She is survived by her husband of 60 years David Donald Cason, daughters Donna Cason Smith and husband Scott, Kimberly Cason Diehl and husband Gary, Kathryn Cason Pinneri and husband Jason, four grandchildren, and one great grandchild.  Also surviving are her sister Betty Anne Morris and husband Phillip of Natchez, Louisiana, and brother Charles Shelor and wife Charlotte of Arlington, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her parents Charles Edward Shelor and Annette Farmer Shelor, daughter Brittney Leigh Cason, and a grandson.  The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses for the kindness and care given during her illness.   A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
