Mary Ruth Denton Felknor

MARY RUTH DENTON FELKNOR, age 99, of Dandridge, TN passed away Wednesday morning, March 7, 2012 at the Jefferson County Nursing Home following an extended illness. She was born, raised and was a life-long resident of Dandridge, being the last of the five children of the late Roy and Josie Hill Denton. Preceded in death by her husband, John Hill Felknor; brother, Paul "Preacher" Denton; sisters, Leota Jones, Margaret Cunningham and Gertrude Quinn; niece, Gladys Faye Clemens; and nephew, R. T. Felknor. Mary Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dandridge, the V. F. W. Post # 3380 Ladies Ausiliary and the Dandridge Senior Citizens. She was a graduate of Maury High School and the Knoxville Business College. Mary Ruth was employed and saw many changes in her 56 years with the Department of Human Services and also served early on with Work Projects Administration. She is survived by her nephew, Ray (Wanda) Quinn; cousin, J. D. Patterson; several great nieces and nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Farrar Dandridge Chapel with Dr. Robert McCray officiating. Interment to follow in Hopewell Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the V.F. W.
