Marvin Ray Manley, 78 of New Market, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, December 13 at home after suffering with Parkinson’s Disease. A member of New Market Baptist Church, and formerly a deacon of Rhema Baptist Church and Emmanuel Baptist Church in Jefferson City.
Ray retired from the State of Tennessee Fire Marshall’s Department after 14 years of employment. He also enjoyed a variety of careers, cars, and woodworking. He was a loving husband, father, “Pop”, son and brother. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin J. Manley.
He is survived by wife of 54 years, Charlotte Cannon Manley, Son, Stephen (Paul) Manley, daughter Pamela (Chuck) Wilson and granddaughter, Jade Wilson of Hanover, MN; Mother, Evelyn Foster; Brother Don (Mary Beth) Manly of Florida; Sisters: Anne (Bobby) Phillips, Jean (Eugene) Garrett; Brothers and Sister-in-laws; Mary (David) Province, Joy (Bobby) Burnett, Gary (Pam) Cannon; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A very special than you to the 9th floor staff of Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center and to Covenant Home Health and Hospice.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 17 at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City, TN. Family will receive friends from 4pm to 7pm with services following at 7pm with J.W. Taylor and Reverend Bob Province officiating. Burial, Tuesday, December 18th 11a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Jefferson City, TN. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to National Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
