Martha Jo Humphrey

MARTHA JO “MCCARTER” HUMPHREY, of Knoxville, TN was called home on May 28, 2024. She had been employed by BESCO as a senior project assistant. Martha was a person loved by all and laughed at many. She was a fun loving person who was always there for her family, was a wonderful wife, mother, mimi, sister, aunt and friend. She was an active member of Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she was the pianist. Martha was an adventure seeker, music lover, great cook, bird watcher, and a wonderful fun-loving person. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Franklin McCarter and Frances Thena “Cannon” McCarter, and mother-in-law and father-in-law, James and Kathleen Humphrey. She is survived by her husband, Tony Humphrey; son, Anthony Humphrey and wife Ashley; grandchildren, Brogan, Marshall, Marissa, Whitley and Jax; brothers, Sam McCarter, Bill McCarter; sister, Mary McCarter; special niece and God-daughter, Irelyn Sims; special friend, Hope Wilson. Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Farrar Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm. with Dr. Howard Shipley officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service.
