OBITUARY:
MARSHA KAYE ROGERS BAYYAT, age 55 of Snow Camp, North Carolina, passed away Friday, December 31, 2004 at Chapel Hill University Medical Center. A native of Jefferson City, TN, she was born on March 22, 1949 to the late Charlie B. and Mildred Kerr Rogers. A sister, Nita Mae Rogers Hickman, and brother, Ira Charles Rogers, preceded her in death. After her mother passed away, Marsha lived with a special aunt, the late Edith Kerr of Jefferson City. Marsha attended school in Jefferson City and also at Powell High School. She earned an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Psychology from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City. Marsha worked as a Chemical Dependency Therapist for many years at Alamance Regional Hospital in Burlington, NC. She was a member of Moore?s Chapel Baptist Church in Saxaphaw, NC. Survivors include son, Charles Alexander ?Alex? Bayyat of the home; brothers, Jimmy Ray Rogers and wife, Cheryl of New Orleans, LA, and Billy C. Rogers and wife, Lynn, of Mayfield, KY; aunts and uncles, Mrs. Jean Jones of Jefferson City, Thomas G. and Martha Kerr of Bradenton, Florida, Peggy and Hymie Gordon of Sevierville, John E. and Jackie Kerr of Jefferson City, Carolyn Sisti of Buffalo, NY, and Patsy and George Ford of Pigeon Forge; and eight nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2005 from the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Reverend Martin Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Piedmont Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alex Bayyat Scholarship Fund, 7456 Zachary Lane, Snow Camp, NC 27349.
