Marjorie McCoig Martin

MARJORIE McCOIG MARTIN – age 84, of Dandridge, TN went to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 3, 2017. She was a member of Swann’s Chapel Baptist Church. In 1950, she graduated from Maury High School and married her sweetheart. She retired from Jefferson County Schools after 22 years as a Teacher’s Assistant at Piedmont Elementary School. She was instrumental as one of the founders and owners of M&M Excavating. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Martin; parents, Marshall and Myrtle McCoig; brothers, Taylor and Maxine McCoig, Clark and Barbara Jo McCoig, and dear friend, Bernice Strange Hall. Survivors include her children, Tim and Lora Martin, Marsha and Charles McSpadden, Sandy and John Silver, Jean and Steve Riley; grandchildren, Chuck and Carmella McSpadden, Scott and Jennifer McSpadden, Andy Riley, Joel Silver, Betsy and Brad Mitchell, Sadie Martin, Molly Martin; great-grandchildren, Austin, Ashley, Kaylee, John Jacob, Chelsea and Mason McSpadden, Jonah and Isaiah Mitchell; sister, Helen Faye and Tom White; brother, Garland and Lois McCoig and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff of Rogers Cottage at the Jefferson County Nursing Home and Smokey Mountain Hospice. Funeral services, Saturday, August 5, 2017, 3:00PM at the Swann’s Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Haun and Rev. Jimmy Norris officiating. Interment services to follow at Dandridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, 12:00 to 2:45 prior to services at the church. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
