Marguerite Leone Justus Rankin, age 93, died Sunday, May 15, 2011, at her home in White Pine, TN. Mrs. Rankin was born November 17, 1917, in Knoxville, TN. She was a graduate of Maryville College and a teacher, by profession, in Knoxville and in Charlotte, NC. She was also an artist, a genealogist, and a flower gardener. In 1952, she started the first Girl Scout troop in White Pine, and over the next twenty-five years, she volunteered her services both in White Pine and in Nashville, TN. She received the Thanks Badge, the highest award given to a volunteer, for her work with girls in the Girl Scout organization. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Morristown where she was active as a deacon and teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Marshall Rankin; her son, Don Marshall Rankin; and two grandchildren, Rebecca Lynn and Donna Marie. She is survived by he daughters, Marilyn Rankin Clark and husband Mark, of Arbovale, WV; Nancy Rankin Smith and husband Richard, of Lexington, KY and Carol Jean Rankin of Greensboro, NC; daughter-in-law Marianne Greer Rankin of Knoxville; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 19, 2011, from 5:30 ? 8:00pm in the chapel of Farrar Funeral Home in White Pine. After a private graveside service, a memorial service will be held Friday, May 20, at 11:30 am at First Presbyterian Church in Morristown.
