Margaret Kington Yoakum

Margaret Kington Yoakum, age 92, of White Pine, TN passed away on September 26, 2011. She was born July 30, 1920, in Johnson City, TN. She was the first of six children of Georgia Chenoweth Kington and Curtis Hayden Kington. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Tea Yoakum; two sisters, Ruth Fisher and Betty Lee; two brothers, Curtis Kington and Charles Kington; and one son, David Martin Yoakum. During World War II Margaret did her part for the war effort where she worked at Alcoa as a Remelt Operator while her husband was a tailgunner in the Pacific Theatre. She was raised in Mascot, lived in West Virginia for about 20 years, and returned to Tennessee when her husband retired. She was active in Church services at the Morristown Grand Court/Regency Retirement Center, where she was also a leader in various entertainment activities. She is survived by two sons, James and Charles Yoakum and two daughters; Ginger Writer and Gayle Moore; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, John Kington,; several nieces, nephews and other family members. Her family invites her friends to join them at 3:00pm on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Best Western Conference Center located at Exit 8 on I-81 in Morristown for a Celebration of Life Service. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society C/O Mary Ellen Darby, 1321 Laurel Hills, Jefferson City, TN 37760.
