Broadway Blvd. Jefferson City, TN 37760 Phone (865) 475-3892 Fax (865) 475-9916 OBITUARY: MARGARET ANN MCKINNEY, age 85, of Jefferson City, TN died on October 12, 2005 at Jefferson County Nursing Home, following an extended illness. Margaret was born in Sweetwater, Tennessee, the daughter of Joe and Annie Otey McKinney, who ran a dry goods store there. She had one brother, Lloyd, who preceded her in death. Margaret was a graduate of Sweetwater High School and Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City. It was at Carson-Newman College that she met her closest life-long friend, Martha Bill Weierman, who precedeased her in 2005. After graduation, she worked as a decoder during World War II and as a civilian employee for the Pentagon. Later she attended and graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. After graduating, she began work in a Baptist book store. She became a bookstore manager and spent her career in that field. Traveling the world was Margaret?s passion. Her travels took her to China, New Zealand, Australia, Europe, Canada and the Middle East. She made many friends along her journeys. One of her favorite destinations was Miami, Florida. Margaret was a devout Christian who was always an active member of her church. She contributed much to Christian charitable organizations. At her death, Margaret was a member of First Baptist Church of Jefferson City. Margaret is survived by her nephew, David McKinney of Connecticut and niece, Ann McKinney Taylor of Texas. Special friends include her caregivers of many years, Donna Cochran, Addie Shelton and Jennie Gray. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 16, 2005 from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home, with the funeral to follow at 1:00 p.m. The Reverend Harrison Taylor will be officiating. Graveside interment service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2005 at Westview Cemetery in Sweetwater.
