MARGARET GENTRY DEARIEN, age 74, of Jefferson City, Tennessee died Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Saint Mary?s Hospital in Knoxville, TN after a long battle against lung disease. Born in the small town of Gauley Bridge, WV on June 9, 1935 to John and Margaret Gentry, she moved with her family to Charleston, WV where she grew up. Margaret, known as Peggy, graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School class of 1953, where she was a cheerleader, fabulous ping pong player and received a certificate for Seamstress of the Year. She met her husband, Joe Frank Dearien, in 1956 which was the beginning of 52 wonderful years of marriage. They were blessed with two daughters, Jodie and Debra. The family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1966. For 20 years, Peggy and Frank owned and operated the internationally recognized bed and breakfast, The Homeplace, located on Sardis Road. There Peggy enjoyed her dream of decorating, flower arranging and giving comfort and joy to all she met. She loved her linens and dishes and she had that knack for displaying them. In 2004, she retired with her husband to the mountains of Tennessee to be close to their daughter and grandson. Peggy is predeceased by her mother, Margaret Gentry, father John Gentry, brother Robert Gentry and infant brother Kirk Gentry. Peggy is survived by her husband, Frank; two daughters, Jodie Young and her husband, Steve of Palm City, FL and Debra Moye and husband, George of Sevierville, TN; granddaughter, Julie McCloskey and husband, Marc and great-grandson, Jackson of Springfield, IL, grandson, Phillip Boyd and wife Katrina, and step-great-granddaughter Kailey of Port St. Lucie, FL; and grandson, Cameron Moye of Sevierville, TN; her sister JoAnn Milam and husband Gene of Columbia, SC, and her brother Gene Gentry and wife, Pat of Greensboro, NC. The memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, 1610 Russell Avenue, Jefferson City, TN on Sunday, September 20, 2009. The family will greet guests from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. with the service following at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association of Tennessee, First Baptist Church of Jefferson City, or The Celiac Sprue Association.
