MALCOLM E. BARR, age 89, of Jefferson City, TN and formerly of Benham, KY, passed awat at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Jefferson County Nursing Home following an extended illness. He was a member of Magna View Baptist church. He was a plumber and electrician with International Harvester with 42 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Survived by his loving wife, Ruby P. Barr; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Michael Thomas of Dandridge; son, Malcolm E. Barr, Jr. of Rutledge, TN; granddaughters, Tiffany Barr Williams of Knoxville, TN and Lauren Barr Combs of Jefferson City; sister, Winona Galanis of Westminster, CA; brother, Jack Barr of Maryville, TN; several nieces and nephews. Memorial funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2008 from Farrar Funeral Home Jefferson City Chapel with Reverend George Miller officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the memorial service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Smoky Mountain Hospice, 222 Heritage Blvd., Newport, Tn 37821.
