Member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward T. King; parents, Ben and Leona Whittaker Cosby of Harrogate, TN; nine siblings, five who died in infancy; son-in-law, George H. Merritt. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia King Merritt-Crawford and son-in-law, Novy Crawford of Jefferson City; two grandsons and their wives, Jesse and Stacy Merritt of Jefferson City, Chris and Sharon Merritt of Knoxville; two great grandchildren, Alex and Max Fleishacker of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Mary Cosby of Tazewell, TN; special niece and her husband, Ruby and James Essary of Tazewell, TN; devoted friend, Freida Patterson; also numerous other nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2006 at the Farrar Jefferson City Chapel with Dr. Sonny Strange officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at Westview Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
