MABEL MAY (ROOP) WINCHELL, age 98 years, 11 months and 20 days. of the Hodges Cottage at Jefferson County Nursing Home, Dandridge, TN, formerly of Jenkins, KY, passed away Saturday evening, April 12, 2014. Mabel was born April 23, 1915 at Coeburn, Virginia, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Maude (Hall) Roop. Preceded in death by her husband, Charles Arland Winchell; sisters, Bessie Edith Dingus, Lona Maude Roop, Ella Juanita Humpt and Naomi (Oma) Roop; brother, Raymond Edison Roop. She is survived by son, Charles Harold (Anita Sue) Winchell of Dandridge, TN, and daughter, Madonna (Thomas) Childers of Lexington, KY; grandsons, Harold Douglas (Yvonne) Winchell of Dandridge, TN, Charles David (Derissa) Winchell of Wise, VA, Jason Thomas Childers of Frankfort, KY; granddaughter, Melanie Renee (Timothy) Gould of Hazard, KY; great grandson, Craig Aaron Winchell, great granddaughter, Kristin Sue (Harold) Glover, Tiffany Ann Winchell; great- great granddaughter, Caitlin Bryanne Glover; great great grandson, Jace Ethan Glover; a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Mabel was a member of the Haymond Freewill Baptist Church of Cromona, KY. Funeral services, Monday, April 14, 2014, 7:00pm at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Christopher Dotson officiating. Entombment and committal services will be held Tuesday, 1:00pm at Green Acres Cemetery, Whitesburg, KY with Rev Ronald Davidson presiding.
