Lynda Bales Thornton

LYNDA BALES THORNTON, age 75, of Dandridge, TN, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022. She was a member of New Hope Church of God, and she played the piano and organ for many years at Newport Church of God. She was also a piano teacher at Edgemont Elementary School in Newport, TN. Lynda loved the Lord, singing, flowers and gardening. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Roosevelt Bales and Willie Mae Dalton Bales; son, Gregory James Thornton; and sister, Nancy Bolden. Lynda is survived by her daughter, Tonya (Tony) Moyers; son, Lon H. Thornton, III; grandchildren, Greg Moyers, Krista Moyers, Kiara LeAyn Moyers, and Lon H. Thornton, IV; great-grandchildren, Asher Moyers, Abram Moyers, Eden Moyers, Elim Moyers; sister, Annita Walker; and nephew, Bryan Bolden. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022, from 11:00am until 1:00pm with a funeral service to follow at 1:00pm at Farrar Funeral Home, Dandridge Chapel with Reverend Steve Rogers from New Hope Church of God officiating. A graveside interment will take place at Chestnut Hill Cemetery following the funeral service.
