Luther Frank Hutton, Jr. of Jefferson City passed away February 23, 2021 at age 84 after a long illness. Born in West Milford, West Virginia, he spent most of his youth in Hamlin, West Virginia. After serving 2 years in the Army and Air Force doing communications work, he eventually married Karen Hicks and moved to Jefferson City in 1960. He spent 25 years as a specialized lineman at Appalachian Electric Cooperative. As a young adult he was active in the Jaycees (Junior Chamber of Commerce). As an active member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Knoxville (now The Table), he served as a deacon, elder, and property committee chair. For over 14 years he served as the scoutmaster for Troop 194 in Jefferson City, helping numerous boys earn their Eagle Scout and teaching them to love the outdoors and to live as young men. Because of his love of repairing things and helping others he later volunteered with the Samaritan House at Appalachian Outreach and served on their board. He is preceded in death by his father Luther and his mother Ouita. He is survived by his wife Karen; his son Eric (Allison); his granddaughter Sarah; his siblings David, Mary and Donald, and several nieces and nephews.
The family thanks the nursing staff of The Regency of Morristown for their kind dedication to ensuring that his last year of life was as comfortable and dignified as possible.
