Lura D. Sartain Howard

Lura D. Sartain Howard, born December 28, 1908 passed away Friday, August 10, 2012 at Jefferson County Nursing Home. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church of Talbott, TN her entire life. Lura D was a LPN, having worked at Allen Clinic in White Pine until her retirement. Even in retirement, she continued as a caregiver to all her family and anyone else who needed a tender loving hand. She was an amazing cook, whom her neighbors and friends could attest too, and was also was the author of her own cookbook. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Howard of White Pine; parents, Emmitt and Ida Sartain; brothers, Rufus, Robert, Charlie and Lewi,s all of White Pine and Porter of Chestnut Hill; and sister, Baby Grace. She is survived by one niece, Naomi Gajewski of Billings, Montana; several great nieces and nephews, cousins and countless friends. Our many thanks to the staff and workers at Jefferson County Nursing Home for the wonderful care she received in her last years. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry DeVault officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
