LOMAX "MAX" FORGETY, age 84 of White Pine, TN passed away Thursday evening, December 4, 2003. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of White Pine, veteran of the U.S. Army and World War II, serving in the European Theatre. He was a retired truck driver, electrician and handy man. Max was a regular customer at the Wagon Wheel Restaurant in Dandridge, where he enjoyed sharing his smile, good humor and quick with with all the patrons on a daily basis. He willbe sadly missed by all his family and friends. Preceded in death by sons, Rodney and David Fortney. Survived by wife of 40 years, Shirley Miller Fortney; sons, Robert L. Fortney and wife, Kim of Benneaw, SC, Richard Allen Fortney of Arlington, VA; daughter, Bonnie Fortney Rekemyer and husband, Daryl of Reston, VA; sister, Anna Kidwell of Dandridge; step children, Jyll Shoemaker and Charles T. Lay of Liberty, KY; grandchildren, Kevin, Caleb and Bradlwy Fortney, Holly Baker, Amanda Fortney Estaban, bradley, Megan and Sarah Fortney, Adam and Charlie Lay and Brian Morgan; special friends, Glenda and John Owens of the Wagon Wheel Restaurant. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2003 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel (Dandridge) with Rev. Ron Wine officiating. Interment graveside services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 7, 2003 from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
