Lois Fay McCoig, Age 88, of Dandridge, Tennessee, passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, February 9, 2021. She fought a long and hard battle with dementia for 10 years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Franklin, and mother, Reba Northern, and special aunt, Ruth Franklin, brothers, Roy Cate, Robert Franklin and Lon Franklin, and grandson, Derrick McCoig.
She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 72 years, Garland P. McCoig. They enjoyed a long inseparable life together with their family. Son, G.W. “Bud” (Joan) McCoig, daughter, Brenda (David) Holland. Grandchildren, Julie (JayJay) Allen, John (Martina) Holland, Luke (Kristin) Holland, Kelly (John) Wilson. Great grandchildren Chandler, Joshua and Fayth Holland, Tripp Allen, Tori Hill and Ty Wilson; sister-in-law, Helen Faye White.
Lois was of the Baptist faith and attended Swann’s Chapel Baptist Church for many years.
Lois put in many hours helping the Jefferson County Rescue Squad and Dandridge Volunteer Fire Department videoing and photographing missions along-side her husband, fire chief and captain, Garland McCoig. She has hundreds of video tapes that assisted both departments in training. Lois also supplied food and drinks to keep the volunteers going strong. She spent many years babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She dedicated her life raising her grandchildren. Lois also was a great basketball fan and she also videoed the grandkids at all their sports. She will be greatly missed by all.
Mrs. McCoig will lie in state on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 11:00am until 5:00pm at Farrar Funeral Home Dandridge Chapel. A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 11:00am at Grants Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Wayne McKinney and Rev. Darrell Chambers officiating.
